This morning, as my husband, Rob went out to the mailbox to place one of our bills in the mailbox for the mail carrier to pick up he found a card for me. It was from a sister in Christ who is also battling cancer.
Lord, I thank you for providing me nourishment for my soul from your Word through others who love you. These were the Scriptures she directed me to:
Ephesians 1:18-21
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms...
Psalm 105:4
Look to the Lord and his strength; Seek his face always.
Deuteronomy 33:25
The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze,
and your strength will equal your days.
The devotional that went along with these verses reminded me where my strength comes from and will come from on those days ahead when I am so depleted. The devotional is written as if God is speaking directly to me. It said:
"Do not let any set of circumstances intimidate you. The more challenging your day, the more of My Power I place at your disposal. You seem to think that I empower you equally each day, but this is not so. Your tendency upon awakening is to assess the difficulties ahead of you, measuring them against your average strength. This is an exercise in unreality.
I know what each of your days will contain, and I empower you accordingly. The degree to which I strengthen you on a given day is based mainly on two variables: the difficulty of your circumstances, and your willingness to depend on Me for help. Try to view challenging days as opportunities to receive more of My Power than usual. Look to me for all you need, and see what I will do. As your days, so shall your strength be."
Lord Jesus, thank you for reminding me to continually seek your face each day and as I do that you will provide the measure of strength I need for that very day - nothing more or nothing less. I needed to read this today because I'm feeling more depleted today than I have for a few days. Perhaps a bit of a "let down" period for the next "round." Who knows?
Lord I pray that Rob, Derek and Erin will seek You daily for that strength that is readily available to them from You. They need you more than ever right now. Please provide each of them a friend or two on this earth who loves you deeply and will be a support and encouragement to them as they care for me during this time. Thank you for loving those I love so much, even more than I do. Thank you that I can cast all my cares on you because you care for me. (I Peter 5:7)
Lord I thank you for the Your Mighty Strength & Power you pour out to equal my daily need.
